University of Glasgow

Faculty Member, Learning and Teaching Centre

About

I am a Senior Lecturer in the Academic Development Unit within the Learning and Teaching Centre at the University of Glasgow.

I have worked in a range of settings including international and community development, health promotion, medical education and academic development. I currently co-ordinate the University of Glasgow's MEd in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (Distance).

My research focuses on students and staff co-creating curricula and other forms of student-staff partnerships in learning, teaching and assessment. Other research interests include: programme and course design, first year curriculum design, and curriculum mapping; pedagogic research methodologies, participatory research and approaches to teaching pedagogic research; international development related to health and education, the values and ethics of the internationalisation of universities; and academic development, including peer observation of teaching.

My current projects include:
- an exchange with Lund University focused on curriulum design and strategic educational leadership
- a British Council funded project to develop student centred learning in Kurdistan in Northern Iraq
- a survey of pedagogic research taking place across Scotland
- gathering examples of students co-creating curricula with academic staff
