About
My thesis consists of a feminist analysis of femininity, beauty labour (as duty and as pleasure) and continual consumption in contemporary Russian women's magazines.
Combining a discourse analysis of the women's magazines Elle, Cosmopolitan and Liza with semi-structured interviews, I seek to explore the role of the magazines in readers' lives and the extent to which their real-life opinions and behaviours reflect the magazines' ideology.
